Cattleya Orchid
Cattleya, a showy genus comprised of 113 species of orchids, grow in tropical areas such Costa Rica and regions of South America. They are found in every color except true blue and black.
The genus was named after Sir William Cattley, who cultivated the species Cattleya labiata successfully. Shown is a restored 19th century illustration of Cattleya Elisabethae.
